Welcome to ibsnotepad.org. My name is Yury Lee, and I am a health researcher, advocate, and the founder of this platform.
Living with or managing irritable bowel symptoms resembles navigating a complex puzzle. While Western medicine offers vital diagnostic criteria, many individuals find that managing chronic digestive distress requires a more holistic, everyday approach. I built this platform to explore how modern gut science and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can work together to support digestive wellness.
I suffered from IBS for years. I have seen doctors about it, underwent examinations, and followed standard treatments: yet I went through something much more powerful and horrible than you might think.
I will never forget the night of my birthday. Around 3:00 AM, instead of celebrating, I found myself vomiting violently, shivering uncontrollably, and burning with a fever. Navigating the anxiety of those unpredictable flare-ups, and feeling like standard medical answers weren’t giving me the full picture, drove me to look deeper.
It was this personal battle that inspired me to take control of my health; It was also this personal battle that led me to bridge the gap between Eastern wisdom with Western digestive science.
My Educational Foundation & Expertise
To ensure the information and patient trends shared on this platform are grounded in rigorous, evidence-based concepts, I have formally completed specialized, university-level online courses from leading global institutions in both gastrointestinal science and Eastern medicine, achieving a Grade A in each:
Gastrointestinal & Microbiome Science (Grade A): Completed the online course Gut Check: Exploring Your Microbiome through the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of California San Diego. This training focused on the cutting-edge science of the gut microbiome and its direct impact on digestive health.
Traditional Chinese Medicine Foundations (Grade A): Completed the online course Health Concepts in Chinese Medicine via The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Practical TCM Application (Grade A): Completed the online course Everyday Chinese Medicine via The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Editorial & Transparency Standards
Source Verification: Every medical claim, microbiome concept, or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) application published is cross-referenced against peer-reviewed literature on PubMed. My Eastern wisdom is grounded in classical texts and contemporary books by leading TCM practitioners in Asia, balancing evidence-based science with time-tested lineage for safe, accurate insights.
Human-Curated & Reviewed: While I utilise modern digital tools to assist with my site layout, article formatting, and editing drafts, every piece of information is strictly curated, reviewed, and finalized by a real human to protect my community’s safety.
Independence: I am completely transparent about any brand partnerships, affiliate links, or sponsorships.
My Mission
I built this platform to answer three critical questions that every IBS patient asks:
Can there be a place online for truly comprehensive IBS information? Yes. I bridge the gap between Western microbiome science and Eastern wellness, offering a complete, well-rounded resource for managing your symptoms.
Can reading about IBS feel less threatening? Yes. I discard the clinical, scary medical jargon to create a warm, comforting, and supportive space where you can learn about your health without anxiety.
Can women have a dedicated space to safely share their journeys? Yes. Because women are the typical sufferers of IBS, I designed this platform specifically as a supportive, living community where women can connect, share raw experiences, discuss hormone-gut interactions, and swap recipes and hard-earned wisdom.
Please note: This platform is for peer support and education only. I do not provide clinical diagnoses or prescriptive medical advice. Always consult a qualified medical professional or a licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner before making any changes to your health regimen, diet, or lifestyle.
